James M. Haggard (Jimmy) is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Government Financial Manager licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has more than 25 years of experience providing a variety of accounting /auditing, tax and consulting services to businesses and individuals. In addition to serving as the Partner In-Charge of Goodman & Company’s Peninsula office, Jimmy serves on the firm’s Executive Committee.

Jimmy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and served on the Society’ Ethics Committee and its Board of Directors.

In addition to being an Alumni of Christopher Newport, Jimmy was named Distinguished Alumni of the Year in 2002 and was selected by the University’s Accounting Department as the 2002 Distinguished Accounting Chair. At the time, this was only the sixth time in the history of the school that the award had been given. In addition to serving on the Business Advisory Board, he has served on the Alumni Society Board and currently serves on the Board of the University’s Educational Foundation. Jimmy is also a 1991 graduate of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Institute.

Jimmy is active in numerous community organizations and served on the Hampton School Board for 9 years, the last 5 of those years as the Board’s Chairman. He served as the Regional Chairman of the Virginia School Board's Association and served on the Virginia School Board Association’s Board of Directors. He currently serves on the boards of the New Horizons Regional Education Foundation, the Waterman’s Museum Foundation, the United Way of the Virginia Peninsula and the Achievable Dream. Jimmy previously served as the President of the Hampton Branch YMCA Board and served as the treasurer of the YMCA’s Metropolitan Board of Directors.
