A native of Hampton, Branch Lawson joined East West Partners in 1981 after working six years as a CPA with Ernst & Whinney in Richmond, Virginia.

Initially, Lawson was the Vice President of Operations and Assistant General Manager of the Brandermill community in Chesterfield County.

In 1987, he began the process of opening a new division of East West Partners in the Hampton Roads area. Since that time, he has overseen all phases of the zoning, financing, acquisition, development, marketing, operations and sales for the following communities: Gatling Pointe and Gatling Pointe South communities in Smithfield, The Riverfront in Suffolk, and Eagle Harbor and Founders Pointe in Isle of Wight County.  He is also beginning a sixth community on 600 acres in the James City County area.

Lawson has been on six community association boards as well as several civic and professional boards.  He is a past president of the Peninsula Housing & Builders Association. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of Tidewater Builders Association, the Christopher Newport University 's Luter School of Business Board of Advisors, and is involved in various capacities at Smithfield Baptist Church.

Lawson, a resident of Gatling Pointe, graduated from the University of Virginia , McIntire School of Commerce in 1975 with a B.S. in Commerce.
